Coincidence and noncoincidence counting (81Rb and 43K): a comparative study.

چکیده
This paper compares the accuracy of imaging and resolution obtained with 81Rb and 43K using coincidence and noncoincidence counting. Phantoms and isolated infarcted dog hearts were used. The results clearly show the superiority of coincidence counting with a resolution of 0.5 cm. Noncoincidence counting failed to reveal even sizable defects in the radioactive source.

Error Reduction in Adaptive Finite Element Approximations of Elliptic Obstacle Problems
We consider an adaptive finite element method (AFEM) for obstacle problems associated with linear second order elliptic boundary value problems and prove a reduction in the energy norm of the discretization error which leads to R-linear convergence. This result is shown to hold up to a consistency error due to the extension of the discrete multipliers (point functionals) to H and a possible mis...
متن کاملComparison Of Neutron Coincidence And Multiplicity Counting Techniques For Safeguards
Neutron counters have been used by safeguard inspectors worldwide for over 20 years to accurately perform Non-Destructive Assays of pure samples of plutonium and uranium. These systems rely on the neutron coincidence counting technique to separate time-correlated fission neutrons from random, uncorrelated neutrons to determine the fissile mass. Impure samples such as mixed-oxide (MOX) scrap mat...
متن کاملCoincidence detection of heterogeneous cell populations from whole blood with coplanar electrodes in a microfluidic impedance cytometer.
Particle counting finds many industrial applications especially in medical healthcare. In particular, cell counting from whole blood is used pervasively for disease diagnostics. Microfluidic impedance cytometry is fast, requires a small volume of blood, can be used at point of care and can perform absolute enumeration of different cell types in the sample. Coincidence detection is very essentia...
متن کاملMutagenesis of the 43-kD postsynaptic protein defines domains involved in plasma membrane targeting and AChR clustering
The postsynaptic membrane of the neuromuscular junction contains a myristoylated 43-kD protein (43k) that is closely associated with the cytoplasmic face of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR)-rich plasma membrane. Previously, we described fibroblast cell lines expressing recombinant AChRs. Transfection of these cell lines with 43k was necessary and sufficient for reorganization of AChR...
متن کاملAssociation of the postsynaptic 43K protein with newly formed acetylcholine receptor clusters in cultured muscle cells
The postsynaptic membrane from Torpedo electric organ contains, in addition to the acetylcholine receptor (AChR), a major peripheral membrane protein of approximately 43,000 mol wt (43K protein). Previous studies have shown that this protein is closely associated with AChR and may be involved in anchoring receptors to the postsynaptic membrane. In this study, binding sites for monoclonal antibo...
